    Competency mapping is undertaken to map the requirements of skill,knowledge and attitudes in an organisation for the short,medium and long term.The element of future plays a very major determining role.Competencies grow or deplete with time.Hence there is very less relevance to structure.Structure could be very debilitating.Freedom versus structure (read control)is a competing competency.The idea is to find a blend between the two.
