For many months a group of people have been involved in a private discussion forum here at Behavior OnLine about the performance of organizations. The first to join were organizational consultants, people whose profession it is to assist organizations to make the most of there human and other resources.
Then managers of organizations, mostly of mental health and behavioral health organizations began to join in order to learn more about the subject and to obtain expert advice about particular problems and opportunities they faced in their jobs.
The private forum generated many thoughtful contributions and was useful to those in it. However, it is my belief that a forum on organizational development (also called "OD") will be useful to very many members of the Behavior OnLine community. And a larger and more heterogeous membership will lead to a richer discussion, one grounded in the facts of life of today's mental health and behavioral health professionals.
I am sure that some or all of those who participated in the private discussion will join in here too. I also invite all members of the community to join. I will visit here daily and will help to facilitate the discusssion.
I guess I can begin that by inviting those who are professionals in the field to say a few words about themselves and the kind of work they do. I also invite those who are facing challenges in their organizations to tell us a bit about themselves and the problems and decisions they face on the job.
I hope to hear from you soon here!
