As I posted on 10/24/96, we use the SCL90-R. I think the question shouldn't be which is the cheapest measurement tool. It should be which tool is standardized and has norms for your decision making. In 1996 the SCL 90R had quick and easy characteristics needed for our adult MI population. The other outcome measures needed for Level of Functioning, Quality of LIfe , and Satisfaction with Services came from our selection of the Treatment Outcome Profile (TOP). The TOP also has 9 questions from the SCL90 (R) included if someone wants to skip the 90 or 45 questions. I feel that if an organization is going to put a lot of time and money into program evaluation of outcomes the cost of the measurement instruments ($1-2 per client) is not the biggest concern. Valid measurement and comparibility to others is important. Since you have the SCL address (and ncs.com internet) I will also give you the connection to the TOP. It is Psychology Consultants, 1001 Cherry St. Suite 207 Columbia, MO 65201. I have emailed them at bhcsue@aol.com They charged us a one time fee. Read reviews on each instrument for your fit.
