An Adlerian clinician evaluates each client's feeling of belonging (or feeling of community) by comparing several perspectives, including: 1) the client's attitude toward the therapist; 2) the client's attitudes toward work, love, and friendship; 3) a series of the client's earliest childhood recollections; 4) and the origin of the presenting problem or symptom. We look for common denominators of thinking, feeling and action, and their common purpose. This analysis is critical for effective treatment planning in Classical Adlerian psychotherapy.
