Cross Cultural:: Therapeutic Communities in Prison.
    by David Szymanowski, 11/29/96

What about viewing Therapeutic Communities (TC)in a prison setting as cross cultural experiences; perhaps similar to the experience of immigrants crossing to the U.S, to experience a "new life". However, at first these immigrants formed into groups that valued the culture that they just left; hence, the hyphenated-American. Eventually, these individuals were assimillated into the new culture. Perhaps, this is now the point where inmates who experience a TC are at now. I am exploring this issue and hope no one takes offense at these wonderings. Also are there any instruments that measure the extent of assimilations, feelings on group belong, or instruments in a similar vein? Any suggestions, comments or advise would be appreciated.
