What you describe is memory. The revivification of memory that has not been rehearsed frequently enough to be coded in consciousness is not quite the same as the use of trance to assemble impressions, fantasy, and experience into a "virtual truth" called recovered memory. Beyond doubt there is inaccuracy in that process. The question is how much is there when something that the adult once claimed to not know at all is suddenly said to be the truth by the "hypnotist" who "helped recover it." Some swear these are true without confirmation of supporting evidence and that those who impede the acceptance of that "truth" are (even) potentially part of a conspiracy. In that context the phrase "recovered memory" would be different than that to which you refer.
