Susan: I don't know whether you were just emphasizing the point that exposure duration did not differ, or you thought I had asserted there was a difference. If it's the former, I aplogize for being defensive. If it is the latter, please note that I indicated they were not significantly different. Agreed that it is interesting to note there was greater SUDs reduction during treatment with EMDR. However, given the lack of differences on outcome measures, I'm not sure what to make of this. At the risk of sounding silly, I know a terrific way to reduce people's SUDs during therapy for PTSD: stop talking about the trauma and show them a video of their favorite comedian. This will reduce their SUDs, but I doubt it will reduce their PTSD.
