Relax, no "power retorts" in the forseeable future. I completely agree that decreases in within-session SUD are not to be confused with ultimate treatment outcome. Given that the two groups received a comparable amount of "exposure" and showed a comparable amount of treatment gain, how do we explain the fact that the EMDR group showed a much sharper decrease in anxiety related to the trauma memory during that session? Even if we assume there's nothing more going on during EMDR than habituation, why does that seem to be happening more quickly in EMDR than exposure?
