    EMDR and Acting
C Taylor, EMDR Patient · 06/24/01 at 11:03 PM ET

I have a profound emdr experience to share: I was asked to participate in a demonstration of emdr for acting and performance enhancement presented by Dr. David Grand for an emdr conference in Austin, Tx. I have used emdr about 20 times with my ADHD therapist (works great!). I have also trained w/ several of the "best" acting teachers in LA and worked in commercials as a professional. I volunteered for Dr. Grand out of curiosity and b/c of my personal successes w/ emdr.

The experience was awesome! After a short emdr session w/ Dr. Grand, my scene partner and I performed our 3 min. scene so well that we felt as if we were really them; really there. The audience reaction was terriffic! The depth to which I was able to "get into character" in public with a new character and script took me compleatly off-guard. I went deeper into my char. after emdr than I have ever been able to go- even after dozens of live, stage performances. This new synthesis of healing, science, and art brings me joy and I just want to tell everyone the news!

    Thank you,
    Christian Taylor
