EMDR works quite well with multiple trauma. However, if there has been incomplete processing of an event you can continue to experience some of the unresolved emotions of the earlier experience. Therefore, it is vital that you inform your clinician that you are having this reaction. Grieving for the experiences you had as a child, and the way you were treated by your father can be an important aspect of healing. But it needs to be appropriately addressed by the clinician.
