Thank you for your input. I will add that Dr. Grand may have broken some new ground the other day when he actually performed some "therapy" on my character during the preparation. I responded to his prompts from the character's perspective and actually had several vivid "memories" of childhood, college, and career, all from the viewpoint of the char. His line seemed to follow in the direction that it usually goes for me in my local emdr work (as far as my untrained eyes could see). For me, that part of the prep felt just as the later scene work did: as if the char. respondinded naturally, with "me" observing w/neutral feelings. It was a heavy day for me, and I am still finding aspects about the exp. to marvel at. I am exited about the creative process and how emdr can help it. The applications of emdr could go far beyond its clinical uses. Safety is an issue, of course, as is the intentions of the user. However, if used, for example, by police detectives, mediators, and those who would like to reach a higher level of openness and trust w/other like-minded people, cool. Sorry to get carried away: just doing my ADD thing...
