A question for Dr. O'Brien .... Dear Dr. O'Brien In another discussion on EMDR a friend and I were wondering about this issue: Can the eye movements of reading stimulate the process of EMDR? Specifically the situation was that we both found: As reading Laura Parnell’s newest book EMDR and the Treatment of Adults Abused As Children, we both had experienced flashback type of memories, yet not as intense as true flashbacks. My point of view is that the case history was the culprit, but my friend brought up the idea that maybe it was the eye movements that may have cause the new memories to surface. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks Elizabeth
