As a "client" what should I know as far as DES and SIDS? I don't know what these are and if I'm being "interpreted" by these should I know? If my therapist uses these "tools" (I'm assuming") should I know? What might cause me, or others, to "read" into what they mean? I often wonder, that if I knew as much as my therapist, if he/she taught me, perhaps "I" would understand myself better. Isn't it common place with physical illnesses that the "patient" learn as much as he/she can about their illness, treatment, etc.? It seems to me, perhaps if the same "thought" was instilled with mental/emotion illness, we might progress to a healthier state of being, quicker, if we knew or were educated on aspects of our condition. For me, if my therapist is giving me "tests" I'd like to know and I'd like to know what they mean. Again, I'm assuming the DES and SIDS are some type of tests. I know I want to know as much as my Therapist knows and I wonder if there is a "difference" in the client knowing about these "test, scales" whatever they are than a test for "cancer, HIV," what have you. Should I, as an EMDR client know what DES and SIDS are and if they are being utilized on me, and if so, what they mean? Thank you for your time.
