Sorry to regress here, but I agree. Finding an EMDR therapist that can help with complex histories of abuse is frustraing and very expencive. I do not have insurance and have been paying out of pocket as high as 150.00 per session just to interview potential therapist. Most have gone to 3 sessions. Some have the skills and training but not the time in their schedules, so why did they even bother to set up the first meetings. I to spent time on the phone asking questions to avoid paying and then hearing I am sorry but, or getting there and finding out they do not have the experiance to help me. I live in a rural area and have driven close to 1 1/2 hours to some of these sessions. I have exhausted the EMDR list I was sent, as well as the list from ISDD. I even contacted a well known PTSD research treatment/team and was told they could not see me because I lived outside of their "catchment area" and were concerned about my driving 1 1/2 hours after a session. Shouldn't that have been my choise. I have given up for now. This is all too much to deal with. I will struggle through another holiday season, and hope my family understands my less than holiday spirit. I wish there was a web site that those like me could post as want add: Wanted: one female therapisrt -- skilled and knowledgable in PTSD, extensive childhood trauma, and recent losses. Client is motivated and has strong creative skills. Oh well maybe I will but this on my list to Santa.
