Thank you very much for your reply.

My understanding of EMDR is that one of the most (the most?) important factors in determining whether or not EMDR will work in a given case is the patient's ability to truly feel the pain/trauma.

I only have 4 sessions left with my therapist before my next flight and am concerned about my inability to feel the intense fear. I am able to feel it when I don't want to (i.e. the 4-5 days before the flight) but am unable to produce it on command when I'm alone or with my therapist.

My therapist is on the official EMDR list for France (she's done Levels I and II) and she uses hypnosis with some of her patients.

-- Can I assume that she has been "trained" in chair spinning and floating back? If not, could you pls briefly explain what you mean by chair spinning?
-- (Silly question): could it help somewhat to take a caffein pill (which tends to make me feel somewhat nervous) before the session.
-- Can hypnosis be useful in getting the patient to reach the desired state?

Thank you very much again for your time and help.
