    Important addendum

Nearly twenty years ago, I was studying to be musician. I played French horn and showed enough promise that my teachers encouraged me to pursue music professionally. However, in my early 20s I began experiencing terrible stage fright. So wretched in fact that one day my face began to spasm violently. I could never play another note again. To this day, my face will go into spasms if I think about playing music.

During EMDR, when I focus on childhood abuse or the abuse I endured with my ex-girlfriend, my face goes into spasm exactly as it had when I thought about the horn! I was amazed that the spasms occured during EMDR when I was thinking of my childhood, not the horn.

Why the spasms? And are the spasms I felt in EMDR related to the ones I developed while studying music?
