Ditto to some of the questions/thoughts you have expressed. Our "T" is very experienced with DID and EMDR. However, to me, the one who has to "do life" day to day, it seems EMDR "opened" everything then a struggle to "contain" again. Then appears that what was open is "untrue" again, struggle to believe or decide I must be "crazy". I, the one who appears to do life, have vague memories to no memory of the EMDR sessions; however, appear to be more connected to the others inside. Truthfully, didn't know there were others inside, per se. Seem to get "flashes" of memory from them due to EMDR--assumption, certainly a different type of "flashes". Hard to determine truth or something else? Do believe that EMDR is very powerful and to some point, unbelievable. Assume this is due to not being "involved" in the actually processing but having to live with the layers it seems to have "peeled away" as Dr. Inobe would probably state. Do believe EMDR with DID clients MUST be conducted ONLY in the hands of experienced professionals. What is opened can be detrimental if not properly "contained" by an experienced therapist. Even in the hands of experienced professionals, my experience is that it is an extremely potent form of therapy, which can and does leave clients at risk.
