eye movement and direct perception drawing

I am excited about your discovery of the relationship between eye movement and psychological states. I teach people how to draw what they see and instruct them to look back and forth in regular intervals between the subject being drawn and the picture they are drawing. I have found that this type of drawing (as opposed to the imaginitive type) has a positive psychological effect on students, particularly those with cognitive or emotional problems.

I had always assumed that my students' psychological states improved because direct-perception drawing and its attendent rhythms reduces self-absorption by engaging them with the world. Any thoughts on this?
