Some general comments: 1) when there is no picture or target memory, we can use the NC and PC, and emotion and/or body sensation, and turn the attention to the space where a memory would be if there were one(!) and get terrific results, often, with EMDR (no research on this, just clinical observation). 2) Anybody with whole chunks of their life missing should be evaluated for a dissociative disorder prior to doing EMDR for the first time, and if its found, and appropriate process and protocol should be used. I'm NOT saying you are dissociative; I'm sure I don't know from here. I say this to everybody, because I want people's EMDR experiences to go well.
