As to the research supporting the conclusion that EMDR successfully treats trauma symptoms, i.e., PTSD, you can review this forum and its archives for a thorough discussion. Also, go to www.emdr.com to see a summary of much of the literature (the most recent studies may not be there but this forum tends to discuss each study as it comes out, lately). And thank you for pointing out that of course the eyes are moving all the time. When I referred to eye movements, I meant the regular side-to-side eye movements that are characteristic of EMDR. Many people can't engage in eye movements and talk at the same time, and have to talk between sets of eye movements. Some can. And my posting that followed the summary of the research article about eye movements is an idle musing, not intended to be more than an object of contemplation, not proof by any means. Its just something I always notice while conducting EMDR. EM's seem to disarm people.
