In general, if a client feels things are going too fast, then it needs to slow down by definition. For many clients, before there can be trauma processing, there should be some resource development (RDI) or other ego strengthening procedures, installation of safe place first. Trust and rapport are important. This is something lots of therapists don't get (I'm not referring to your therapist, but a general observation) -- that because childhood trauma has associated with it large reservoirs of terror, and one wasn't protected in the first place, that that very issue gets revisited in the therapeutic relationship if things are retraumatizing instead of containing, strengthening and healing. That protective aspect of self is worth its weight in gold for many people.
