Yes, she wouldn't say now that most people can get that result in 50 minutes. At the time she wrote that, she did all the treatment. She's pretty amazing - doesn't miss much. Now we know what's involved in getting the results, which is why the training takes 5 days now. Still some people do better than others. Remember, both Novaca and Wolpe both originally thought people could learn Stress Innoculation and Systematic Desensitization, respectively, from articles. They both later had a different view of it, and had learned that other people don't necessarily automatically do what they automatically did. So again, the 89 article is not the standard to compare designs to. This study if it had been published in 1990 would have been using an appropriate standard. Published in 2002, it is a very dated design.
