Invoking the authority of Shaprio, Wolpe, or Navaco has no probative value. Remember, Wolpe went to his grave believing the efficacy of systematic desensitization was due to recipricol inhibition, despite years and years of research that would suggest otherwise. Just because an authority figure says something does not mean it is true. If you want us critics to shut up, provide data for your assertions. If you assert that training makes a difference, show us the relevant data. If you assert EMDR in 2002 is superior to the EMD of 1989, show us the data. If you assert there is a dose-response relationship between severity of symptoms and length of treatment, show us the data. By the same token, if you catch me or anyone of the other critics of EMDR making unsubstantiated claims, then callus on it. We are all susceptible to errors in critical thinking.
