    1. All of the havoc stories I've heard about have been when EMDR is used on a client with an undiagnosed dissociative disorder. But then....

    2. I haven't heard many people phrasing the question in terms of spiritual awakening, kundalini opening, or energetic formulations. Certainly, EMDR triggers energy shifts. Certainly, higher self is one of the aspects of self that can be pulled in and opened up in processing during EMDR.

    You've posed an interesting question, and I've exhausted my information on the subject. Will Zangwill in New York is pursuing EMDR and meditation practice, so perhaps he will post a reply here.
