    Unfortunately we can't comment on specific cases here, since we don't have enough history or a proper assessment. However, I can make a few general comments:

    DBT is very helpful for some people who might also benefit from EMDR. They are quite different. DBT helps people regulate emotional swings and settles them down quite a bit. Some people need to do DBT before EMDR.

    EMDR works with trauma including long term systematic trauma, but needs to be combined with other methods for complex cases, and often stabilization, affect containment, affect stabilization and other things are needed, which might include DBT.

    Therapists should only do interventions for which they are qualified by training and experience.
