I sesne from the posting above that you are concerned about DBT being indicated for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) that is really often used as a prejorative label. Incidentally, Complex PTSD and BPD have a signifcant overlap in symptoms. Anyway, as suggested by Dr. Paulsen, DBT works to increase affect tolerance and aids in stabilization. In my view, it is frequently helpful when stabilization is necessary prior to trauma focussed treatment, regardless of diagnosis. DBT and EMDR seem to work well together and I see them as very compatible treatments.
