In addition to the very helpful remarks above, I want to add my expreience of hopelessness with regard to EMDR ever being accepted by some individuals, on the basis of research literature, case sutdy, personal experience, or wahtever source. I read the article iin the last issue of JAMA, reporting a study which found that imaprimine and cbt were helpful for anxiety. No one set out to prove it wasn't really the whichever-element-they-wanted-to-pick that helped, no one said 'bet it wouldn't still be helping years later'--we just respond with 'great, this may be another way to help patients'. I sometimes don't understand why some individuals can't respond the same way with EMDR. Try to understand more--yes; find out hows and whys-absolutly; but be glad for one more helpful tool along the way.
