It is a slow process for some, myself included. You are not a failure, hey, you went back and talked with the therapist and they is not someone who has failed. It seems to me that the therapist(s) are being careful and are helping you pace things so that you do not become too overwhelmed. That is what they are supposed to do. It is quite okay to take a break - wish I would allow myself to do that. I've done some emdr and, then, found that other things/techniques were needed for me before I could do any more emdr. Matter of fact, I don't even remember the last time that emdr was used. Besides that, emdr is not for everyone and there is more than one way to get through the healing work and process. So go easy on yourself, take a break and do what you need to do for yourself. Choose what feels best for you.
