It is quite possible that the constant traumatization caused by the obsessive memories are continuing to compromise his health as well. I would suggest getting a physician's input after describing the possibility that a high level of disturbance might arise. For comfort of client and clinician it might be appropriate to take him into the hospital for the day and monitor him during treatment with a pulse meter. We have never had any negative reports--but whatever situation can be arranged to afford fullest comfort and protection is best for both of you. It would be wonderful if he could have the remainder of his life free of the pain. The oldest patient that of know of with EMDR was 92
