Obviously work with experienced EMDR practitioners. Sometimes even the supposedly good EMDR doctors have strange quirks. A recent example that I know of - had the client terminating treatment - but the doctor felt there was still some authority to discuss the client's medical history and background with another doctor (non-EMDR). The non-EMDR doctor who felt that the client was deficient - took it upon himself to question the client's credibility and slandered the client's reputation. Be careful. I've had two very bad experiences with experienced EMDR practitioners. The last experience was especially painful - since I felt that the doctor went out of her way to invade/intrude on my life - especially when I wanted to set firm boundaries against her actions. The strange thing is that this doctor taught me the concept of establishing firm boundaries.
