I've developed self-report measure that may be what you are looking for. It consists of 27 multiple choice questions which cover the main points assessed in the various Cognitive Therapy checklists and rating scales. Since it is brief and can be computer scored it is much quicker and easier than having therapists record therapy sessions and then having raters evaluate the tapes. This instrument can be used to assess the respondent's knowledge of Cognitive Therapy if it is used with instructions asking the respondent to indicate what the ideal Cognitive Therapist would do. It can be used to assess the respondent's adherence to the principles of Cognitive Therapy if it is used with instructions which ask the respondent to indicate what they currently do. The bad news is that the measure has not yet been validated. I've pilot tested it by using it in conducting needs assessments when planning training programs and it seems to work well but I have not had time to do an item analysis or to validate the measure. I'll be happy to make this measure to anyone who may be interested in using it in their research as long as they are willing to share the data they collect with it and/or collaborate in validating it. Simply email me at jpretzer@apk.net and mention that you are interested in using the "Psychotherapy Practices Survey." (Paul I'll email you a copy in the next few days, email me if you don't receive it within a week)
