My suggestion is gonna be a hard one for you to swallow but, cut him off let someone take the burden of carrying his extremely heavy load. If, when the trouble is over and he has paid his debt, he involves himself in bad or problem area's then stand back allow the mistake and give him the will to understand the learning of his mistake. Always be positive in your response to his cry for help. The best way to learn a life lesson is first hand. I am being outspoken but I am a firm believer that many of these mental problem's stem from a sheltered lifestyle. One more suggestion to family members who are working with loved one's that have any problems, "You are working with your loved one's when you change as they do."
