Hopefully your post is not a joke as I want to answer somewhat seriously. Teams and team behavior is currently a fad of the last eight to ten years of "management practice". Uniforms are thought to support team behavior. Believe me, if you want true team behavior, it would be a good idea to start with establishing collaborative behaviors within your workplace system. If your work system is fundamentally authoritarian (where people are expected to tow the line, live on $6 an hour, and put on a smiling face in gratitude for being allowed to stay alive) uniforms aren't going to magically install "team spirit." In fact, it may well be that your system IS authoritarian and that some people will resist wearing a uniform as the only way left for them to have some sense of self and self esteem. That of course will make these resisters "poor team players." And they may be booted for "not wearing your uniform like a good soldier should." donjgenaro@hotmail.com
