I would love to have an opportunity to teach, however I'm told I do need a PhD to do so. I'm very torn rignt now between persuing the PhD and entering an institute and persuing a private practice. I find myself interested in learning research in a rigorous an collegial atmosphere. I get excited about certain aspects of investigation and "question answering". I am also pulled to work with people clinically and really use art therapy. When I worked in institutions I had so many other requirements and limitations that the moments of real art therapy stand out for me. A private practice, I think, allows for more of that. I have been looking at PhD. programs and at institutes, each are of interest and each seem to bring up a real excitment for me. Any thoughts on how I can come to some decision? I appreciate all the comments so far, and welcome a continuing discussion with as many as are interested. Thanks!
