I do think it's an idea, and found the journal to help me to that understanding. I actually found it quite liberating, resulting in feeling less defensive of my training/work. I don't feel that it takes anything away from the power of art therapy either. About teaching, I like the idea of not being relegated to only teaching art therapy. In that way I also have a opportunity to expose others to a certain amount of art therapy. I just discovered an institute which has a certificate program in both clinical work and research. I'm somewhat concerned that it may not be as acceptable a credential, but I am in the process of exploring it further. The same institute also has an externship for doctoral students and is not limited to clinical psych. candidates so long as the student has clinical experience. So, National Institute of Psychotherapies has at least 2 options which could offer both the clinical and research components. Anyone know anything about that institute? As I discover more I'll post. I'm pleasantly surprised how my exploration is really uncovering viable options. I'm also enjoying the contact here--helpful feedback, interesting discussions. Thanks...let's keep it going.
