Good points. The rarity of art therapy Ph.D. programs leads to the question: is art therapy a profession or an idea? Which is addressed in the current issue of Art Therapy: The Journal of the American Art Therapy Association.
If I think it is a profession, it makes the lack of Ph.D. programs regretable. If I think it is an idea, it can be advantageously emphasized in any discipline. It depends on your point of view.
