    drawing circles
    Janice · 07/16/00 at 2:41 ET

At a recent workshop on healing, the instructor took us through an exercise that was intriguing.

She had us draw a large circle on an empty page and then fill in with smaller circles which represented the various areas of our lives. We could position, shape and size the circles as we liked within the larger one. Various people used them to represent areas such as "Health", "Work", "Relationship" etc...

At the end of the exercise, the instructor told us that the left side of the page represented the circles that represented the past to us, the right the future, the bottom our base and the top our dreams.

She said that this was done in a lot of art therapy workshops. Does anyone recognize this exercise or anything about it ?

    Thanks!
