Affect- thought type connections

    Shame and Affect Theory (Nathanson)

    Affect- thought type connections

Can you enlighten me on the apparent connection between affect and particular types of thoughts? It seems that one can correlate the anger affect with thoughts of injustice; the fear affect with thoughts of survival; the shame affect with thoughts of loss. What types of thought types are associated with other affects?

How consistent is this connection? How do these thought types relate to stimulus intensity and rate?

When you speak of suboptimal processing of stimuli, how does this relate to conflicting thoughts? unconscious thoughts?

Your book was incredibly eyeopening but I am struggling with filling some holes.
