In my studies in shame, I have been going over the literature in affect theory, trying to find empirical studies which attempt to verify Tomkins“ideas about the specific stimuli patterns that trigger each affect.
All I have found are the facial judgement studies performed by Tomkins“himself, Ekman, Izard and others. What they don“t show, is that the assumption of the density and contour of stimuli as producing specific affects is correct.
If anyone has a reference to such a study, I would be extremely grateful.
