I am delighted to read of others making the connection between affect theory and EMDR. I have been interested in shame as a clinical issue for some time. When I began reading Dr. Shapiro's book, and then completed my Level I training a few months ago, the similarities between EMDR and what I'd read of your work, Don (and the writing of Tompkins, Kaufman, Morrison, Lewis, Nichols, Goldberg and others) stood out in bold relief. This struck me so that I even inquired about it at the EMDR training. How interesting and exciting (unimpeded by shame) to read that others are noticing this about EMDR & affect theory.
Thanks, Don, for sharing you knowledge and leading this forum. I've been reading for some time now, and experienced difficulties the other times I've attempted to post a message; hope this one gets through without glitches.
