Thanks for the nod of recognition. Maybe our elected leaders can now return to the job of making the country work right. Did you notice that almost all the politicians who used the Clinton issue and/or lauded Ken Starr were really punished at the polls? Perhaps we will see a trend toward moderation in many areas of American life.

Yet as you noted, my point was less a political statement than an observation about the metabolism of shame and the other affects in large groups. Although we have a great deal to learn, script theory really helps us to understand a great deal about people.
