Jim Duffy on 4/5/97, referencing Steven Stosny's book, "Treatment Attachment Abuse: A compassionat Approach" quotes the following:
"Attachment abusers are those who fall prey to the illusion that they can blame attachment figures for the intolerable shame of feeling unlovable or inadequate as loving agents, that is, they blame the mirror for the reflection."
Could this not also apply to a mother or father who severely abuses a child?
