Well, I guess we'll just have to disagree. I think there is a big difference in the presentation of self and the treatment of people to whom bad things were done through the intent of a malicious individual and those to whom similarly bad things occurred through chance. That's why I use the term abuse to describe situations in which the bad things happened through intent, and trauma to describe those situations in which similar woes were not associated with anybody's wish to cause pain, negative affect, or drive-based need.
