You say: ".... defined trauma as any situation in which pain, affect, or drive-based need is triggered in excess of our ability to modulate it; and I define abuse as any situation in which another person inflicts intentionally pain

In response I would really disagree with the use of the word "intentionally". The organism has no idea if it wasintentional or not, esp. a child and often the perpetrator would often say they have no idea why they did it... also neglect can be unintentional? Someone is distracted from parental duties due to work or survival and are simply not "there".
