    Dr. Nathanson,

Would you briefly compare and contrast Shame and Affect Theory Vs. Object Relations Theory?

I've been reading the excellent book by Basch, Understanding Psychotherapy, and he makes many references to Affect Theory. Is there training available to indoctrinate a counselor to Basch's approach to psychotherapy?

I am a graduate student in counseling. We've just completed a course in counseling theories, and unfortunately Affect Theory wasn't included. After reading your book, Shame and Pride, I have gained an interest in learning how to integrate Script and Affect Theory into my approach to psychotherapy.

    Thank you,

    Richard Parsons
