I would advise you to give the CBT more of a try. Overnight cures (touted by EMDR proponents) for longstanding problems would be great but those things are few and far between. However, that doesn't mean that it will take years to get on the road to improvement. I have found that most therapists say they are doing CBT but are only giving it lipservice. Is your therapist doing role play exposures, working on social skills, and giving you homework to do? These things are important along with the cognitive resturcturing. It would be nice if finger wagging would evaporate your social phobia, and maybe it will, but CBT done right has a validated and high success rate for your disorder. Remember, it is the working toward the goal that really matters. Trying to see the finish line can be disheartening in a marathon. These problems didn't start overnight and they probably won't end there either. Good luck Brian
