Without knowing more information, it is hard to be sure what occurred during your EMDR processing. I have not heard any reports of EMDR causing hallucinations. In a few cases, EMDR may cause people to become aware of parts of themselves that may initially seem to be very different from the rest of the self. I am familiar with three cases in which a client with distinct parts of self had parts that were initially felt to be not human. As processing completed in those cases, however, these people became aware that these are fully human parts of themselves that for some reason took on a role that was not a typically human role, usually for some survival purpose. I can't say whether that applies in your case, not having enough information. Your therapist needs to help you answer these questions as s/he is familiar with your history and your EMDR process. Any time someone reports feeling uncomfortable following an EMDR session I wonder whether processing completed normally. I urge you to follow up with your therapist to determine whether processing completed or whether there is additional work of some kind, EMDR or non-EMDR, that needs to be done. Be sure to disclose the discomfort you are experiencing. Good luck on your journey.
