Also you might want to try reading books by Herbert Benson. I'd reccomend Timeless Healing. An MD affliated with Harvard. His Mind Body Institute, I believe that's the name, might interest you. Religion free? Medical science full? This might be something closer to what you are looking for. If you are close to Boston, I'd give it a look, although I don't know a lot about it.
