The various 'qi cultivating systems' are focused on training the qi [also spelled 'chi' in some translations.] Once the 'energy level is full' it may be used for healing oneself & others, for self defence, if the practitioner has been trained in a martial art or to progress to spiritual enlightment. Chinese Traditional Medicine, the Ayurvedic tradition from India & Tibetan Medicine which is a mix of both systems are concerned with the process & balance of the 'qi' circulation. The practise of Meditation is about 'ki'[in Japanese] 'qi' [Chinese]. It is a lot more than just sitting or standing still once in a while.
