    Hello Jim & Rus

I have been practising Taijiquan & Qigong for about 30 years. In the Chinese tradition I have found that students are usually just taught the routines. When a serious student discovers things, asks the right questions & offers appropriate comments, spontaneously - the teacher may choose to offer more things to practise. The temperament of the student is always carefully observed.

When I mentioned to Ah Keng, my 'Taiji father', that after doing standing pole & 'soong' training,[the top of my head was very itchy & the soles of my feet were very hot.]
Ah Keng nodded & said, "you have been doing your practise." He held out his hands & asked, "you got something there?" I had a strong sensation of a magnet pull between my palms. I nodded. He said, "the Qi has got to the top." I had been given the seal of approval.
